William Moorcroft for Macintyre, Early Art Nouveau Florian Ware Tea Service, 1902

An authentic four-piece Florian Ware set designed by William Moorcroft for James Macintyre & Co., Burslem. The poppy pattern is created in tube-lining—raised slip outlines filled with hand-painted enamels in ochre, olive and midnight blue—with gilt rims. Each piece is fully marked: Macintyre Burslem England, registered design RD No 401753, painted pattern/decorator number M1754. Florian was produced only for a few years around 1900-1904 and is the foundation of Moorcroft's celebrated style later continued at his own pottery. Sold originally by leading taste-makers Liberty of London and Tiffany & Co., these wares helped define British Art Nouveau. Complete tea services are scarce; inclusion of the tall hot-water jug adds significant rarity and display presence. Short production window, exact 1902 registration, early Moorcroft authorship and the tactile relief of tube-lining combine to make this a museum-worthy Art Nouveau ensemble with strong investment-grade appeal.
