Antique English porcelain chocolate cup and cover, attributed to Spode, c.1815. Beautifully hand-painted in rich cobalt blue, iron red, green, and turquoise enamels with intricate gilt accents and a raised pearl border. Both cup and lid are marked inside with a green hand-painted Roman numeral "II," used to match the parts during original production—typical for Spode before the use of printed marks. The piece closely matching documented Spode chocolate cups from this period (see pattern 1194 and related examples in major museum and auction collections). Highly prized by collectors, Regency-period Spode porcelain—especially chocolate cups with distinctive "pearl" borders and rich Imari palettes—remains exceptionally desirable on the international market. Well-preserved examples like this are increasingly scarce and represent an important addition to any advanced collection of English ceramics.
Condition: Small chip to inner rim of the lid (hidden when closed), minor gilding wear on the rim. Otherwise excellent antique condition with bright enamels and gilding.
