Antique Samson Porcelain Figurine - "Umbrella Seller," c. 1860
This exquisitely crafted antique porcelain figurine, titled "Umbrella Seller," was made by the Samson company in 1860. The base bears a Samson mark, commonly used on replicas of 18th-century German porcelain. This figurine is a modified-colour reproduction of an original model attributed to Johann Wilhelm Götz, a sculptor for the Ludwigsburg porcelain factory in Germany.
Ludwigsburg porcelain, founded in the mid-18th century, was celebrated for its refined artistic craftsmanship. Many of its figurines, including this one, depicted everyday life with remarkable realism and detail.
