A large and beautifully decorated porcelain footed bowl attributed to Edme Samson of Paris, dating from the late nineteenth century. Inspired by the celebrated Chelsea-Derby tradition, the bowl combines a rich cobalt-blue ground with finely painted floral reserves and extensive gilding, creating a striking display piece for both collectors and interiors.

The exterior is decorated with oval floral panels framed by gilded foliage and a distinctive gilt brickwork border around the lower body. Inside, a central floral bouquet is surrounded by smaller hand-painted flower sprays, demonstrating the careful craftsmanship associated with Samson's finest productions.

During the nineteenth century, Samson became renowned for recreating the most admired European porcelain styles. Their interpretations of Chelsea and Derby designs remain among the firm's most collectible works and are appreciated for their quality, decorative appeal and historical interest.

The deep cobalt ground, lavish gilding and elegant floral decoration make this an outstanding decorative bowl with strong cabinet and display appeal.
