Rare Royal Worcester glazed porcelain figure depicting John Bull, the iconic English national figure, designed and modelled by James Hadley. Dated 1892, this Victorian figure is beautifully crafted in Worcester's celebrated blush ivory palette, with warm gradations from ivory to soft peach and russet tones.
The humorous and detailed figure shows a portly gentleman in traditional English attire — top hat, waistcoat, breeches, and boots — leaning thoughtfully against a milestone marked 'Hadley'. Fine hand-painted red and black enamel dots add delicate colour to the waistcoat.
Finished in Worcester's high-quality glazed porcelain, this figure was part of the "Countries of the World" series, representing England. Marked to the underside with the Royal Worcester puce factory stamp and date code for 1892. Signed 'Hadley' to the plinth.
A wonderful collector's piece for lovers of Royal Worcester, blush ivory porcelain, Victorian figurines, and fine English ceramics.
