Royal Worcester porcelain figure of a dancing woman from the well-known "Grecian Maiden" series, model 1827, dating to circa 1928. This design originates in the Hadley period and continued in production due to its sustained popularity.
The figure is shown mid-step, holding castanets (the Greek variant, krotala), with a pose that evokes Spanish dance and clearly references flamenco tradition. The composition balances movement with a controlled classical structure typical of Worcester.
The modelling follows the sculptural approach introduced by James Hadley, where flowing drapery and subtle asymmetry define the figure rather than rigid structure.
The gown is decorated in a refined grey and smoky blue palette with a pearlescent enamel effect, producing a soft luminous surface distinct from standard painted finishes. Light gilding is applied sparingly to the edges of the drapery, hair and base.
The underside bears a puce Royal Worcester mark with model number 1827. The combination of the late dot system with the inscription "Made in England" indicates a transitional marking phase around 1928.
