The scene depicts a young boy perched in a tree, with a basket at the base that serves as a sweetmeat or bonbon dish. This piece combines sculptural artistry with delicate hand-painting and fine Victorian porcelain craftsmanship.
The porcelain is decorated in the characteristic blush ivory palette, with soft pastel shading and naturalistic tones. The gilded accents, though rubbed in areas, add an elegant finishing touch.
