Beautiful and highly detailed large blush ivory porcelain figurine produced by Royal Worcester circa 1889, designed by James Hadley in the popular Kate Greenaway style. The scene depicts a young boy perched in a tree, with a basket at the base that serves as a sweetmeat or bonbon dish. This piece combines sculptural artistry with delicate hand-painting and fine Victorian porcelain craftsmanship.
The porcelain is decorated in the characteristic blush ivory palette, with soft pastel shading and naturalistic tones. The gilded accents, though rubbed in areas, add an elegant finishing touch. Signed Hadley to the base and marked underneath with the Royal Worcester printed mark, incised and impressed codes, date mark for 1889, and pattern number 1177.
Ideal as a centrepiece, cabinet display item, or collector's piece for Victorian porcelain, Royal Worcester, or James Hadley enthusiasts.
