A beautiful pair of Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain vases produced in 1902 and 1903. Featuring richly gilded dolphin-shaped handles, hand-painted floral decoration and moulded ornament, they represent one of the most recognisable designs from Worcester's celebrated Persian Range.
Made in shape 1578, each vase displays a different floral composition painted directly onto the softly shaded ivory ground. Royal Worcester's artists were renowned for their floral painting, and the variation between the bouquets reflects the individual hand-painted nature of the decoration.
The combination of blush ivory porcelain, sculptural dolphin handles, gilding and naturalistic flowers creates an elegant appearance that remains highly sought after by collectors of English decorative arts. Both vases retain the printed Royal Worcester mark, Registration Number 188681, shape number 1578 and hand-painted initials to the underside. The Registration Number records the design registration of 1892, while the Worcester date marks indicate manufacture in 1902 and 1903.
A desirable matched pair combining two consecutive years of production from one of Worcester's most admired decorative ranges.
