Hand-painted and signed by Royal Worcester factory artist Brian Leaman, this fine cabinet plate was produced by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, England, circa 1970s. The underside retains the original Bonhams auction labels, providing documented auction provenance.
The central reserve is decorated in Royal Worcester's celebrated Painted Fruit style, portraying two peaches and clusters of blackberries resting on blackberry leaves against the characteristic mossy ground. Surrounding the painting is a striking deep underglaze cobalt blue border, lavishly embellished with elaborate hand-applied 24-carat gold ornament that beautifully complements the vibrant fruit composition.
Joining Royal Worcester in 1969, Brian Leaman became one of the manufactory's recognised Painted Fruit specialists. Having trained under the distinguished fruit painter John Freeman, he continued this important tradition through finely executed still-life compositions. Signed works by recognised Royal Worcester fruit painters are generally more desirable to collectors than comparable unsigned examples.
The reverse bears the official gold Royal Worcester Fine Bone China factory backstamp with the registered trademark symbol.
