A refined Royal Worcester porcelain figure of a bonneted woman, dating to around 1920. The model belongs to the factory's cabinet-scale production, where quiet presence and controlled modelling replaced earlier narrative compositions.
The figure is conceived with a restrained posture, the hands held behind the back and the head slightly inclined. This compositional simplicity is characteristic of Worcester figures of the late 1910s-1920s, where emphasis shifted toward balance and a gentle decorative presence. The dress is decorated with scattered floral sprigs in purple and pink tones, applied with deliberate spacing that allows the ivory ground to remain visible. This light and airy treatment of surface is a recognisable Worcester feature, paired with fine linear gilding used sparingly for definition.
The modelling is clean and precise, with minimal undercutting and a smooth transition into the base. The tree stump acts as a subtle structural support rather than a dominant element, in keeping with Worcester practice of the period.
The underside bears a puce printed Royal Worcester England mark with star device and dot system. The visible dot arrangement appears consistent with the four-dot configuration used for 1920, although part of the mark is obscured by an impressed factory mark.
This type reflects a later phase of Worcester production, distinct from the more elaborate Hadley period, and valued for its clarity, surface quality and disciplined decoration.
