This is a rare ironstone jug or pitcher in the Hydra Shape finely hand decorated and made circa 1830.
The jug has an octagonal " Hydra shape" a wavy rim and a good snake loop handle.
The piece has a dark cobalt blue ground which has been richly hand-decorated, over-glaze, in gold (gilt) floral sprigs or posies interspersed with hand enameled flower sprigs.

Condition - age-appropriate loss of gilding along the edges, minor abrasions at the bottom.
