Large Qajar Persian brass candlestick, circa 1880. Cast brass, hand-engraved (qalam-zani) with Persian nastaliq script above and hunting scenes with animals and birds below; tulip-shaped nozzle; three-sided pyramidal base. Former electrification leaves a central channel and two small holes; rotate to hide the side hole and use as a candlestick, or add a lampholder and enjoy it as a unique table lamp base. Authentic patina; mastic losses and rubbing; solid and stable.
