A matched Japanese export pair by Tashiro (田代), Yokohama, c. 1920-30s. Ivory-glazed bodies with fine craquelure, richly enamelled and gilt. Midnight-blue bands frame a mountain landscape with pagodas among pines on one side, and a lush chrysanthemum garden with butterflies on the other. Painting crisp, gilding immaculate, and the white chrysanthemum work at the shoulders exceptional. Bases with the red TASHIRO cartouche.
