An early twentieth-century centrepiece by the Porzellanmanufaktur Plaue (von Schierholz), dating to around 1907. The rising tree-form stem is decorated with applied roses and foliage in the characteristic Plaue manner, with two putti arranged within the composition. The openwork bowl above is finished with light gilt accents and a Dresden-style floral spray. This type of ornamental work formed part of Schierholz's elite production line and reflects the broader Dresden/Rococo Revival taste popular in the early 1900s.
