This large late-19th-century Shiwan figure vase combines warm colour with strong sculptural charm. Modelled as an overfilled treasure sack with a tall tied neck, it features the laughing Hotei (Budai) seated in a recessed niche, leaning on his sack and holding a lucky mallet. His relaxed pose and expressive modelling give the piece an inviting, joyful character ideal for both collectors and interior styling.

The dense stoneware is coated with a glowing yellow glaze that has developed fine antique craquelure. The base is unglazed with natural firing marks typical of 19th-century Shiwan work.
