Rare Ernst Wahliss Art Nouveau Statuette, Woman Holding Jugs, Late 19th Century, c. 1897

An exceptionally rare Art Nouveau porcelain statuette by Ernst Wahliss, depicting a woman holding jugs, with a dagger on her belt. The rich Bohemian school colour palette is characteristic of Wahliss sculptures from this period, reflecting the fluidity and elegance of Art Nouveau design.

By the late 1880s, Ernst Wahliss had become Vienna's leading porcelain and ceramics merchant, supplying high-quality ceramics to royal families across Europe. His business expanded internationally, with stores in London, Paris, and other major European cities. This sculpture dates to the late 19th century, with its trademark on the base confirming production between 1897 and 1906.
