A finely modelled pair of Derby porcelain figures from the Bloor period, c.1815. The gentleman plays a flageolet and tabor; the lady originally held a triangle, with its lower corner remaining on the apron. Both figures stand on pierced rococo scroll bases with gilding and bright Bloor-period enamels in pink, purple and deep blue.
Reissued during the Bloor revival as catalogue No. 311, these figures show the richer palette and heightened detailing characteristic of early 19th-century Derby. The male figure is impressed "Bloor Derby"; the female marked "Derby" in red.
