An antique Chinese export tea set comprising five porcelain cups with five matching saucers, richly decorated in iron-red, gilt and coloured enamels with the "Thousand Lohan" motif. Innumerable small arhat heads radiate from central gilt roundels; importantly, the decoration continues inside the cups, showcasing disciplined miniature painting. Bases carry an overglaze iron-red Guang Yi Ji / Kwong Yick Kee retailer mark associated with the Canton/Hong Kong export trade at the end of the Qing period. Rare survival as a complete, consistent set of five.
