A striking set of four decorative porcelain display plates produced by Chelsea House, an American luxury interior design brand, circa 1980s. Each plate is centred with a different exotic bird study and framed by a rich royal-blue border enhanced with gilt floral swags and additional bird reserves.
Inspired by traditional English bird-painted porcelain, the set combines finely painted birds, rich cobalt blue and gilded ornament to create a highly decorative ensemble. The designs echo the famous Chelsea bird tradition, the work of James Giles and elements of eighteenth-century Chinese Export porcelain.
Founded in 1974, Chelsea House became known for luxury decorative furnishings and accessories created for sophisticated interiors. These plates successfully reinterpret historic decorative styles while retaining their elegance and visual appeal.
