Elegant antique set of three Wedgwood pieces, shaped from light blue and moss green Jasper. Wonderful matte finish, giving the pieces a sleek and reserved pallor. Raised motif in a classical scene decorating the pieces in the centre and around the rims, emblematic of the Wedgwood style.
This set is composed of a two dishes and an ashtray, the green dish shaped like a heart.
First developed by the prodigious Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s, Jasperware is a type of blue stoneware characterised by a trademark unglazed matte "biscuit" finish, and over the centuries has been produced in a number of different colours. The most notable and distinctive is a light blue that has become known as Wedgwood Blue.
