Wonderful and very rare antique jug, lead-glazed earthenware with transfer-printed and gilt decoration. Released after the end of the Napoleonic wars, when Europe first glimpsed the might of the Cossacks. The motif depicts Russian Cossacks, armed with pikes, charging through the scenery on horseback as they do battle. Composed in the style of Russian artist Aleksander Orłowski. Identical jug can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London

Great antique condition, haircrack present on the side depicting a mustached Cossack, barely visible. Slight restoration on the side, professionally restored.
