A fine early 19th-century English porcelain coffee cup and saucer by Spode, decorated in the richly coloured Tobacco Leaf (also known as Cabbage Leaf) pattern. The design features detailed floral motifs in cobalt blue, red, peach, pink, and green, accented with delicate gilt highlights.
The underside of the saucer bears the rare "Spode Stone China" mark in underglaze blue—used only between 1805 and 1830—alongside the hand-painted pattern number "2061" in iron red. This version predates the more common "Late Spode" marks, making it a particularly collectible example of Georgian ceramic artistry.
Spode was founded by Josiah Spode I in 1776 and became one of England's premier potteries under the direction of Josiah Spode II. The "Stone China" formula was a notable innovation of the period, offering enhanced durability while retaining fine decorative detail.
