A large and decorative porcelain centerpiece by C.G. Schierholz & Sohn, Plaue an der Havel, Germany, circa 1885. Rococo revival in form, the reticulated bowl with gilt handles rises from a twisted stem and scrolled base densely encrusted with hand-modelled roses and forget-me-nots. Nearly all petals survive intact, an exceptional condition for such fragile decoration. The interior shows a painted bouquet of forget-me-nots, echoing the applied flowers.
The underside bears the impressed number 18/10. Traces of a removed mark are present, a known practice of later dealers attempting to present Schierholz pieces as Meissen, whose workmanship it closely matches.
