Devonshire pattern, Ridgways Potteries, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England, c. 1885 These Victorian cheese/cake server are transfer printed in very dark brown with fabulous under glaze hand painting in rich orange luster. The pattern features a fancy pin wheel flower border with oversized daisy type flowers and three magnificent cartouches. One with a proud cock watching the sun rise beneath the cherry branch, another with a bird chasing an insect, and the last is of ocean shells and sea corral with two large unusual fish. Decorated in the Imari manner. Delightful decorative appeal to bring a dash of color to afternoon tea
