Delightful Derby figure depicting a shepherdess adorned with rich enamel painting. This particular design comes from the Robert Bloor period and is noted in John Twitchett's renowned book on Derby Porcelain. Based on the Derby stamp, it's likely crafted around 1830.
However, upon closer inspection, we notice incised marks on the figure's base, the number 55. It's documented that Derby utilized such marks on their early figures. This suggests that artists may have taken a blank from earlier versions of this model and added color to it in 1830. It's a fascinating combination of craftsmanship and history.

Very good antique condition. Two fingers on left hand are chipped; chip to flower in left hand; chips to the cuffs of both hands; minor chips to the leaves; minor losses to paint and gilding appropriate to age.
