The composition presents a dragon and a kylin in opposing shaped panels, divided by reserves containing vases and precious objects on stands, inspired by Chinese Kangxi famille verte decoration of the early eighteenth century.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe fluted rim and undulating profile derive from Worcester models established in the 1765-1775 decade and retained into the Barr, Flight \u0026amp; Barr period. The pattern was introduced at Worcester circa 1765-1768 and became one of the factory's most enduring orientalising designs, continuing into the nineteenth century.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe reverse bears a faint crowned BFB mark, consistent with the Barr, Flight \u0026amp; Barr partnership, circa 1807-1813.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe plate retains two original \"Flight Collection\" labels to the underside, relating to the Worcester collection formed by Howard Emerson Flight — Lord Flight, Member of Parliament and direct descendant of Thomas Flight, who acquired the factory in 1783. Important portions of this focused Flight, Barr \u0026amp; Barr assemblage were later dispersed through major auctions including Bonhams and Toovey's.
