This rare and elegant early 19th-century English porcelain sauce tureen was made by Flight, Barr & Barr at the Worcester Porcelain Works, circa 1820. Decorated entirely by hand, the piece showcases the bold Imari colour palette—deep cobalt blue underglaze, iron red enamels, and richly applied gold.
The tureen features a domed lid with a sculpted bud finial, twisted rope-form handles with moulded gilt details, and a plinth-style base with stylised acanthus leaf supports. The hand-painted floral decoration is finely detailed and highly vibrant.
The base is marked with the impressed crowned "FBB" stamp, confirming its manufacture during the prestigious Flight, Barr & Barr partnership. Their work was collected by aristocrats and royalty, and can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum and Worcester Porcelain Museum.
