A superb pair of Royal Worcester porcelain figures from the celebrated "The Breezes" series, modelled by James Hadley and dating to circa 1865-1878.
The present cream-glazed version is believed to be the earliest and rarest colour variation produced. Unlike later white examples, the warm cream porcelain creates a softer and richer appearance, beautifully complemented by the distinctive black button detail.
One figure presents an open face to the viewer, while her companion bends dramatically into the wind. Together they create one of the most elegant and recognisable Victorian porcelain compositions produced by Royal Worcester.
James Hadley's modelling is exceptional, particularly in the flowing drapery and convincing sense of movement. These figures remain highly desirable among collectors of Royal Worcester and Victorian English porcelain.
