An exquisite Royal Vienna porcelain chocolate cup, c.1880, richly decorated in deep cobalt blue with raised gilding and moriage beading in gold and white enamel. The interior is finished in pristine white glaze with a gilded rim, reflecting the finest craftsmanship of Royal Vienna. The panoramic frieze shows three interconnected allegorical scenes: a rustic mother soothing her child (Nature), village women weaving a garland of flowers (Art), and Cupid riding in a chariot drawn by two maidens (Love). These motifs express the classical Viennese ideal of harmony between art, nature, and love. Marked underneath with the blue beehive mark. A rare and highly desirable cup, sought after for its exquisite quality, symbolic depth, and superb state of preservation.
Condition: One small gilded moriage dot missing; otherwise excellent, with pristine gilding and enamels.
