Stunning antique porcelain silver lustre teacup & saucer, designed in the wonderful pattern, "Crazy Cow".
The decoration is in silver lustre, blue and crimson red.
This set painted with the famous "Crazy Cow" pattern. We don't know exactly where this pattern came from, but several factories used it, among which were titans Spode and Chamberlains. It was probably a rather unsuccessful copy of a Chinese pattern with a dragon in the centre; the poor dragon came out as a strange creature and subsequently became known, and very loved, as the "crazy cow".
But the Crazy Cow pattern is bolstered by an unusual silver lustre, very rare.
Made in c. 1820
There is a small crack on the bottom of the plate as a result of firing and several haircracks that are visible only from the bottom side. Scuffs on the paint and on the silver lustre present. The condition of the cup is excellent, with only minor loss to paint and silver lustre. Please carefully regard all photos.
