A rare, large pair of Paris hard-paste porcelain figures, c. 1870, in the Vion et Baury style. The gentleman raises a wine cup in toast while the lady plays a lute — an elegant Rococo courtship with soft satin complexions, delicate enamels and fine gilding typical of top-tier Vieux Paris work. The cup bears raised "L h," likely a workshop code for l'homme. A period label "G. F. Webber from France 1871" to the bases documents export to Boston's elite market and places manufacture slightly earlier (c. 1868-1870). Unmarked, as expected for the finest Paris ateliers. A showpiece pair with scale, grace and documented 19th-century provenance.
