Rare Antique Minton Pair of Figural Candlesticks (Putti), c.1820s

£750.00
Antique English porcelain pair by Minton, c.1820s. Each candlestick is modelled as a flowering tree with a scalloped drip-pan and small candle cup; a seated putto rests on a rococo base with applied blossoms. Clean white glaze and the instantly recognizable early Minton face. Both bases show a crossed-swords-type painted blue mark recorded on rare early Minton wares of the 1820s; simple impressed workman's letters also present. In the 19th century Minton became a household name, exporting large volumes of tableware and tiles to the United States.
Rare and antique Regency pair with crisp modelling and unusually complete floral work—exactly the kind of early Minton that cabinet collectors look for.

Condition:
Very good antique condition: only tiny nicks to a few leaves/petals on close look; nothing structural, both candle cups sound.

Dimensions:
Height 19.8 cm; base 9 × 8 cm; combined weight 751 g.
