Antique English porcelain chamberstick in the small "go-to-bed" format by Minton, c.1820. Tree-form stem with ring handle; leaf drip tray with piercings and a small candle cup. At the front, a girl with a basket of flowers; extra applied blossoms to the rococo base. Clean white glaze and the instantly recognizable Minton face. Bears a crossed-swords-type painted mark in blue, a very rare feature recorded on some early 1820s Minton wares. Central underside shows an old label shadow. Early date, elegant scale, and unusually intact applied flowers make this a rare and antique cabinet piece that Minton and early English porcelain collectors look for. Under Thomas Minton the factory moved decisively into refined fine china; early floral-encrusted wares from this decade are a noted high point.

Condition:
Candle cup with slight age play; otherwise very good antique condition with only the lightest handling to petals on close inspection.
