An exceptional pair of Japanese Kyō-Satsuma vases, crafted in Kyoto around 1890-1905 and attributable to the renowned Kinkozan studio. Each vase showcases extraordinary polychrome enamel scenes with fine raised gilding, depicting Buddhist imagery, dragons, and temple figures in remarkable detail.
The navy cobalt grounds are richly embellished with gold phoenix and wave motifs, enhancing their visual presence. Although unsigned, the stylistic and technical characteristics unmistakably reflect the Kinkozan school's mature output during the Meiji period.
One vase features a surface-only glaze line — not a structural crack (confirmed under UV light). The second vase has a rim restoration, visible only from the top; it does not detract from the overall visual integrity.
