Pair of antique porcelain candlesticks, of the highest museum quality. Richly painted, we see the deep blue gamut runs from the navy black to the lightest aquamarine. Notice the refinement of detail on the faces of the ladies, and their children. The figural elements are balanced carefully on the octagonal base, wreathed by floral elements.
Hallmarked to Sitzendorf porcelain. Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur was established by Wilhelm Liebmann in 1850. Most of the manufactory was demolished in 1858 in a blast, but reopened later and continued to run until the second world war. Dated to 1887 - 1900.
Both are 32 cm in height, 16 cm x 16 cm on the base. Weigh 1467 g and 1484 g respectively.
Candlestick on the right:
Left arm is cracked and restored, two fingers on the left hand are chipped. In some places there are tiny cracks on the flowers which are located on the base. Losses to gilt. The candle holding part can move. Marked to the base with the Sitzendorf mark and the number 182.
Candlestick on the left:
Left arm missing the tip of the pinkie, and some loss to gilt. Minor losses on the flowers, very few in number, and otherwise excellent antique condition.
