A jewel-like late Meiji Satsuma bowl by Hododa (signed 保土田 beneath the Shimazu crest), Yokohama. The coveted "Thousand Butterflies" design blankets both exterior and interior with miniature butterflies in delicately toned enamels and raised gilt. Inside, festive banners and momiji leaves drift across an ivory crackled ground. Gold is bright and evenly burnished—top-tier Yokohama export quality.
