Mason’s Patent Ironstone Pair of Posy Vases with Exotic Bird, c.1915

£750.00
A finely preserved pair of early twentieth-century English posy vases in patent ironstone by Mason's, decorated in the Oriental palette with an exotic bird and floral ornament set against a vivid yellow ground, characteristic of the factory's Edwardian prestige wares.

The decoration corresponds to the registered factory design Mason's Oriental palette / exotic bird design on yellow ground, Registered Design No. 652974, used on a variety of forms from exhibition vases and chargers to smaller interior pieces. These examples represent the compact globular posy-vase form, produced in more limited numbers.

The design reflects late Victorian Orientalist influences adapted for English decorative ceramics at the turn of the twentieth century.
