This large vase is decorated with finely hand-painted Watteau-style cartouches showing gallant romantic figures, framed with elaborate gilding. The surrounding turquoise ground is enriched with floral panels, demonstrating the refinement of Dresden decoration in the late 19th century.                                                                                                                                                 The reverse bears the underglaze blue mark used by Helena Wolfsohn in the late 19th century. The gallant and romantic characters and decorative panels of flowers are recognizable from Helena Wolfsohn. The Helena Wolfsohn factory existed for a short time (1879-1883), so the products of this manufactory are rare. At the factory near Dresden the porcelain itself was not produced, all blanks were supplied directly from different, most famous manufactories.
