An impressive early 19th-century serving dish produced by Chamberlain's Worcester. Made from early Worcester hybrid-paste porcelain, the dish is formed with a deep oval body and a pronounced burgundy ground to the rim, enriched with floral panels and broad gilded borders. At the centre is a hand-painted figural scene depicting people in a boat, executed in soft enamel colours against a calm landscape.
The rim is strongly moulded and scalloped, finished with heavy gilding and fitted with twin openwork gilt scroll handles. Such ambitious pieces reflect the high-end output of Chamberlain & Co. for an elite Regency clientele, with the scale suggesting a presentation or display role rather than everyday use.
