An exquisite miniature Kyoto-Satsuma incense burner (koro) from the Kotobuki-dō (寿伴) workshop, Japan, late Meiji era. Hand-painted in vivid enamels and burnished gold with chrysanthemums, wisteria and a small bird — symbols of grace and longevity. The lid is original, carefully rejoined in two places. Gentle gilt rubbing consistent with age. Elegant and rare, this teapot-form incense burner shows Kyoto craftsmanship at its most refined.
