A rare and antique biscuit porcelain figurine of a young boy, created by the renowned Gebrüder Heubach porcelain factory in Lichte, Germany, around 1885. This exquisitely hand-decorated German bisque porcelain figurine depicts a boy dressed in a fancy green costume, raising his arm as if gazing into the distance. The figurine features a matte finish, with a few golden highlights, including the button on his shirt, belt trim, cuffs, and collar. All details, such as the face, fingers, and clothing, are meticulously and skillfully hand-painted. The bottom of the base bears the impressed 'sunrise' company mark.
In 1840, brothers Christoph and Philipp Heubach purchased a porcelain factory in Lichte, Thuringia, Germany, originally founded by Johann Heinrich Leder in 1822. The Heubachs initially produced household pottery and figurines. In the 1860s, they established a sculptors' school, which nurtured talent and helped them design an extensive array of products.
The company remained in the family for several generations during the 19th century. Gebrüder Heubach won a silver medal at the 1900 Paris World Fair, followed by a gold medal at the 1904 World Exhibition in St. Louis and another gold medal at the 1906 Milan Exhibition. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Gebrüder Heubach had gained fame for producing figurines, dolls, and decorative porcelain items.
