A beautiful miniature Wedgwood lustre cup, pattern Z4829, dated c.1915. Outside: Mixed-Blue Lustre with pale stainings and blue mottling, enriched with hand-gilded serpentine motifs. Inside: glowing Mother-of-Pearl Lustre with a bold central gilt dragon and a gilt frieze to the rim. Daisy Makeig-Jones, who joined Wedgwood in 1909, pioneered luminous Ordinary Lustres before launching her famed Fairyland range; her work is prized for its color, fantasy and meticulous hand decoration.
