Historical Background
Jens Peter Dahl Jensen was a prolific Danish sculptor who worked for Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grøndahl before establishing his own porcelain factory in Copenhagen in 1925. Known as the Dahl Jensen Porcelainfabrik, the company specialised in underglaze figurines and crackle glaze wares.
The business remained a family affair, with contributions from his son Georg, as well as his wife, granddaughter, and grandson. Dahl Jensen sculpted over 400 models himself, with more than half being entirely original designs. The factory operated until 1985 and became known for producing small, high-quality runs of distinctive porcelain figures, many of which are now highly sought after by collectors.
