Pair of Antique Volkstedt Porcelain Grape-Picker Figurines by Triebner Ens & Eckert, c. 1877-1894

A beautifully modelled and finely hand-painted pair of antique porcelain figurines depicting a grape-harvesting couple, made by the renowned Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur (Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Manufactory) in Thuringia, Germany. Crafted under the direction of Triebner Ens & Eckert, these figurines date to c. 1877-1894 and are representative of the factory's exquisite late 19th-century production.

The gentleman is shown gathering grapes from the vine, while the lady carries a basket overflowing with fruit and florals. Their clothing is painted in a soft palette of green and cream with delicate foliate patterns, reflecting romanticised 18th-century rural dress. They stand on naturalistic bases styled as tree stumps with clusters of grapes and foliage, evoking a vineyard scene. The warm tones and fine modelling convey charm, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of narrative.

These pieces are marked to the base and numbered 70 and 23 respectively.

Measurements
Lady: 17.3 cm tall
Gentleman: 17 cm tall

Condition
Excellent antique condition. The gentleman has a minor chip to a grape leaf. The lady has some leaf losses in her floral basket. There are a few chips to the fencing at the back of the lady's figure. These details are minor and do not detract from the overall presentation. Please examine all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
