A large and highly decorative pair of antique German porcelain figural candlesticks, produced in Thuringia in the late 19th century and attributed to the Sitzendorf manufactory. Each candlestick is formed as a tall tree-trunk column enriched with applied flowers and foliage. The figures depict a girl holding a small goat and a boy holding a dog. The modelling shows soft facial features, gentle expressions and rounded forms characteristic of Sitzendorf production.
On one base there is a weakly visible underglaze Sitzendorf mark; the underside of each piece bears an impressed model number "216", followed by small green technological marks. Large figural candlesticks of this scale, exceeding 32 cm in height, were produced in smaller quantities and are increasingly difficult to find as surviving pairs.

Condition
Girl: Minimal chips to applied flowers. Small losses to the leaf-form drip pan beneath the candle socket (two leaves chipped). Overall very good antique condition.
Boy: Minimal chips to applied flowers. Small losses to the leaf-form drip pan beneath the candle socket (two to three leaves chipped). Otherwise excellent antique condition.
