This rare and exceptional set of three yellow ware pitchers was made by Phillips & Bagster in England around 1820. Graduated in size, each pitcher is moulded in high relief with a dynamic stag hunting scene and features a sculptural hound-form handle. Two of the three are clearly marked "PHILLIPS & BAGSTER" in raised lettering near the collar, confirming the maker.
The largest pitcher is of particular note, crafted in five parts: a two-piece moulded body, applied foot, and two-part hound handle. It displays 12 moulded animals in total and exemplifies a high level of craftsmanship and technical complexity. These pieces represent some of the earliest examples of yellow ware of this kind, predating later American versions.
This set is documented in reference works such as Yellow Ware: The Transitional Ceramic by Lisa McAllister and rarely survives in full with such detail and condition. A valuable addition to collections of early English ceramics, hunting-themed pottery, or Regency decorative wares.
