A charming pair of early 20th-century German porcelain figures, modelled in the Dresden style and painted in vibrant colours. Each stands on a matching circular base with a relief gilt border. This rural scene features a boy holding a birdcage and feeding a small bird with a worm, and a girl with a large flower basket. The boy's figure is marked with a blue underglaze "N" above a crown and the word "FOREIGN," a Capodimonte-style export mark applied by a partner company specializing in goods for the British market. The girl's figure carries the official "Volkstedt crown and 1762" underglaze blue mark, introduced as the factory's 150th anniversary emblem in 1915. Such combinations are typical for Thuringian export porcelain, where large manufacturers like Volkstedt supplied undecorated porcelain to affiliated decorating studios who applied their own marks for export. A fine and decorative example for collectors, interior accents, or a thoughtful gift.
Condition: The boy is in excellent original condition. The girl has a loss to the fingers of her right hand; otherwise, very good condition. Painted and gilt details are well preserved.
