A good quality, nicely modeled and hand painted figurine made by Derby in 1784-1825. Quite typical for early Derby of that period. Figurine of young barefooted wreathed woman holding fishing net in one hand and fish in the other, in colorful clothing, raised on an octagonal base with Greek key moulding, heightened in gilt. The figurine adorned with rich enamel painting. On base painted factory crown mark in red which confirms the stated date of manufacture of this fine and rare Derby figurine. This figurine from the series ("Four elements"- Earth, Air, Fire and Water) was first modelled by Pierre Stephan, in 1780. It can be named as Water element. In Bloor period (since 1830) the Derby factory again started to produce such figurines. The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company is the oldest remaining English porcelain manufacturer, based in Derby, England. The company, particularly known for its high-quality porcelain figurines, has produced tableware and ornamental items since approximately 1750.
