A well-modelled and finely-detailed Parian biblical group of Eliezer and Rebecca at the well.
Sculptor^ William Theed
The figure depicts Abraham's servant, on his errand to find a wife for Abraham's son Isaac, meeting Rebecca at the well where he decided her behaviour showed she met the necessary criteria. In the Christian Old Testament (Genesis 24) the servant is unnamed, but Jewish religious tradition refers to him as Eliezer, and he is so called in the many paintings of this popular subject and on this figure.

Condition:
Chips on the plant below,the tip of the index finger of Rebecca's right hand is chipped off,also the thumb of her left hand is chipped off
There was once a ring in Eliezer's left hand, now it is lost. There is a small firing crack on Eliezer's left foot, small firing cracks on the back of the sculpture.
If the sculpture is turned upside down, you can see the firing crack on the bottom.
All these small defects do not affect the impression of this wonderful sculpture.
It is in excellent antique condition.
